Press releases subseries, 1942-1955.

The Press Releases subseries contains a rich collection of press releases documenting publicly released information about Ford Motor Company operations. Some of the press releases also include related photographs. They are organized into three subsubseries. The Cataloged Press Releases Arranged by Subject subsubseries makes up the bulk of the collection. Subjects include biographical information about Ford Motor Company executives; Ford Motor Company products such as Ford, Lincoln, and Mercury automobiles and Ford trucks; Ford Motor Company plants; the manufacturing process of automobiles such as engineering, production, and testing; public relations activities at the Ford Rotunda; labor strikes; and the education and training of employees. Also included are press releases regarding awards, departmental communications, executive communications, policy letters, speeches, and statements of Ernest R. Breech, executive Vice-President and Henry Ford II, President of Ford Motor Company. Also included are press releases regarding Henry Ford's awards, birthday parties, and photographs documenting various events in Henry Ford's life. The Uncataloged Press Releases Arranged by Number subsubseries are arranged by numbers assigned by the Ford Motor Company News Department. The first number refers to a broad subject category. The second and third numbers, if applicable, refer to subcategories of the topic. Many of the same topics found in the Cataloged Press Releases Arranged by Subject subsubseries are also found in this subsubseries. Of particular note are press releases regarding the Engineering Division, Sales and Advertising Division, Executive Employee Appointments, Military Defense Production and Henry Ford II's announcements. The Uncataloged Press Releases Arranged by Subjects subsubseries contains press releases about many of the same topics as the two previous subsubseries. Of particular note are press releases relating to biographical information about Ford Motor Company executives; Dearborn, Michigan; Oakwood Hospital; and Continental Mark II automobiles.
